OK - after weighing all of the advice I am probably going to pass on this car. I spoke with some local Mercedes mechanics - a shop that does a LOT of Mercedes business (actually they only work on Mercedes), and they told me to stay away from the M110 motor. They claim it is one of the worst Mercedes ever manufactured and they refuse to work on them because you just can't ever get them fixed right. They especially pointed the tendency for them to leak and all of the problems associated with the gaskets - from valve cover to head.

I have read several posts on this board though, that express exactly the opposite viewpoint.

Needless to say, this is confusing...
