I'm going to add some pictures of the procedure because I just finished it yesterday. I started my oil consumption process in June and found that I needed to replace the valve guides, which I did in one of my classes. So the head is back on, the dront cover is on and I need to add oil, crank the engine over, check for leaks and let the hydraulic compensators pump up. Then add the plugs and wires and it'll be good to go. I also replaced the O-ring on the oil level indicator.
MB Doc, I thought the M102 and M103 were similar and had a front cover.
