Hey Jim,
Maybe you are right about the resistor only affecting the upper RPM range. I try not to rev my engine that high though, maybe that's why I didn't feel it. I don't really know if it's worth it to take it out then, because how often in normal driving do you get into the 5000+ range? I only think I would take it out if I was going to go racing.
