I agree. However we should continue to explore and implement solar, wind, hydro and nuclear (or is that nucular
) for our energy supply and bio, electric and fuel cell technology for our transportation needs. Domestic drilling may not effect pricing one red cent but the importance of weaning ourselves from foreign oil first and fossil fuels second shouldn't be discounted. $700B, often to countries not friendly towards us, could be better spent here.
Our biggest obstacle towards alternative energies at this point is each one has a lobbying group pushing for it, think Big Corn, instead of keeping everything on the table and developing a comprehensive plan.
T. Boone Picken's plan, ridiculed by some and pishawed (is that a word?) by others, seems to make a lot of sense to me.
