It's time to retire my trusty 8mm tape Camcorder (bought new in 1999).

There seems to be a big price difference in the current offerings from $150 to $450.

My needs are simple:
-i don't want to use tape anymore
-most recordings will be less than an hour (then downloaded then erased)

There is a slim camcorder that looks like a big candy bar (only 60 minutes) and there's the more traditional form that is like big taco (5 hours of recording time)(can you tell i'm hungry right now?).

The question is, since i do not need the long recording time of the taco, can i be happy enough with the candy bar camcorder? are the images just as clear?
