I really don't think I would try to own one of these 16 year old beauties without the sharing of infomation on forums like this.

BTW, I was not all that brave about going into the IP for a fix. I had the luxury of my ruined IP to play with. I opened it up, looking for a clue and found one. I was sure the lifters would be frozen with rust and in the up position so the cam could not reach them. So this morning, armed with my WD 40, I removered the side plate, ran the engine and everything was moving. When I spotted the disconnected control linkage, I practiced the repair on my junk before doing it for real.
