I have a 96 E200 estate, the central locking has been fine, but recently sat on my keys and ran the batteries down in the remote key. To lock it overnight, I used the space "credit card" key/locking device, which worked fine (not used it before). Got a new set of batteries for my key unit and installed the batteries, when I held the button down for 2 seconds, the red light flashed, which showed me the batteries were fine. Went to use it on the car and no go ! I tried using the "credit card" device and it worked ....... any ideas guys ? the credit card device is a bit big to carry about all the time !
