You might want to use that insulation foam that comes in a can. You could even leave the rubber boot in place, and just spray it into the hole. It is a real sound deadener, but just take it easy when you spray it in there. It will expand quickly and set up in a few minutes. Good luck

Just make sure it is the non-hydroscopic type (does not absorb water)
