Brainstorming about the possibility of using a 617 turbo-diesel engine out of an '81 300TDT to repower a '52 military Dodge M37.

Has anyone ever had experience using MB diesel engines for utility power source applications?

Any difference in the engine when used for manual transmission vs. automatic?
