Could be coincidence, or maybe you replaced the wrong part. I replaced my water pump, but it is very possible that all I needed was new hoses. Only after I replaced the water pump did the hoses start leaking noticably that I knew it was them. Before then, I thought it was the water pump, but who knows. It could have been both. Just one after another.
