Thumbs up Merkur XR4TI. The best car in the US in the 1980's except for maybe the mercedes

I still own the Merkur. It is the thee car I wanted when I was in high school too. It only have 76K orginal miles on it. I got in it 1995 when it has 21k. My sister is the orginal owner she did not drive it to collage and after collage she went to work in NY city. That is why it has so little miles.

In my opinion it is the BEST car in the US during the 1980's except for maybe the mercedes.

It has been a pleasure to own. I had a few minor problems with it but they were all realated to the car not being driven much during the 1st 20k in eight years.

This weekend I blew a drive belt (the orginal belt). But was I stuck heck no. The car has a redundent belt system. If one belt broke there is still a second belt. I just took the broken belt fragments of the broken belt off and drove it home. I even drove it to three different kragon in town to get another set of belt. Now, that is good engineering!!!

I have a exterior picture but nothing to write home about. If you are interested I could look for it.
