Thanks for the idea Michael.

This seems likely to be the core of the problem, only looked at the plastic cover so far but it appears to have snowbank damage.....[problems started immediately after I ran over a big snowbank and hicentered the car near that area] I'm hoping for disconnected wiring or something simple of course. Then I can just be happy about all the new expensive parts just installed on the car. Makes me appreciate the manual transfer case on my '88 Toyota pickup and it's manually locking hubs. I'm going to return the car to the shop that did the work tomorrow with your tips and with those from Gilly and Whipple. I like keeping cars for a long time and taking good care of them. I'm just out of my league with the modern electronics.
