J boat is in another league. I bet they spend over $50k a year just on varnish work alone.(touch up) You can probably buy a couple of new Ferrari's for what a set of sails cost, and a Toyota for what one main halyard would cost; those are probably changed 2 times a year. And if you race(which they do) sails are changed all the time.
My friend was spending north of $100k a year to race his Swan 46, in the mid to late 90's. To race a 150ft wood boat? OMFG, it has to be a high seven or eight digit number.
Usualy on power boats of that size its roughly 10% of the purchase price to keep it up and use it. So say you pay $25m, its going to cost $2.5ish a year to own and use it. Some are more some are less, but thats ballpark. I doubt the Arab's that drop $300m on these things are spending $30m a year to keep them up, but they might be. The numbers get pretty stupid fast in that very thin air. Paul Allen has a nice boat.
