All it would probably take is to make a little L-shaped (or a bit wider) bracket that could pivot around its center... you could attach a regular actuator to one arm and attach the other to the lock. I considered it for this car but I really didn't want to go to all that effort if I could avoid it

I don't bother anymore; So. Cal is a desert anyway. But what I used to do was cut up a garbage bag and glue it on with 3M spray adhesive.
