I changed valve stems on my Mitsubishi Eclipse using the rope method. Basically just before the cylinder gets to TDC you fill the cylinder with rope then turn engine at crankshaft and the piston pushing on the rope holds the valves from falling when you remove the valve springs and replace the valve seals. You will need the correct valve spring compressor from Mercedes still.
