Hi,

I have a 2001 ML320 w/193k miles on it. A few days ago I hit a significant
pothole on the highway, and instantly, the engine is off. It happened a
second time when driving on a dirt road and I got the car rocking side to
side.

Now I can recreate this reliably by just grabbing onto the roof rack and
shaking it side to side with the engine idling. The engine just stops instantly,
and cleanly. No sputtering or coughing.

I expect it to be a loose electrical connection or bad relay somewhere related
to the ECU.

Has anyone seen or heard of this before? Any suggestions of where to
start looking would be much appreciated.
