Pics of a Cracked Flex Plate

A few months ago, my buddy’s ’84 300D started making a harsh, disgusting metallic sound near the rear of the motor after first making a wooshing sound for thousands and thousands of miles. We peaked in the bellhousing window and confirmed what we thought. As shown in the first two pics.

Forward to today... The car had sat all this time and we finally pulled down the tranny. We found out that this transmission had been toyed with by the PO/or some joke mechanic and they used wrong bolts with 12mm heads on the flex plate instead of the original 13mm head bolts. Using these wrong bolts could of very well have caused this catastrophe.
Check out this ugly pic!

Pieces of the ugly flex plate and the new flex plate to be installed.

Hope you enjoyed the pics.
