I use a Craftsman deep socket, 27mm, too and also had some contact with the return line nipples. They are pretty soft stuff, so I just pushed them inward slightly and the socket fit on fine. I noticed one or two were already slightly bent, and the socket fit on them, so I "adjusted" the others to suit. If you push too hard they can get so close to the fuel connection part of the injector that the little hose is more trouble to get on and off, but a large slot head screw driver can be used to push them back out.
