What is the big deal about assault rifles? As far as I am concerned, it is about somebody that wants to play soldier like they did when they were kids. Except without all the other bad parts like the hard labor, discipline, sacrifice. Pretty much like civilians wearing military fatigues. Why buy them when the military gives them for FREE? Oh, that's right, you don't want the other parts that go with it. I've owned 2 assault rifles in my time. A Chinese SKS and an AK47. Notice the past tense "owned". I came into possession of them simply because somebody needed the money and sold them to me for the money he could not repay. It was either that or nothing. If they were great guns, I would have kept them. Of course there was the appeal of people with the "oohs" and "aahhhs" when they found out I owned them. I could care less about them. Accuracy was not there. OTOH, the AK felt really good in my hands. Too bad it doesn't shoot as well. M16? More accurate. Too light a round for much. So no, I would only own a assault rifle if you gave it to me. For more damage, I would take my 30-06 bolt action as opposed to any of those military rifles. Let the military keep them. The issue is not the assault rifle in this case. The issue is that they are trying to ban one thing at a time as a way to circumvent the 2nd amendment.
Someday, your rights that YOU CARE ABOUT will be taken away. Hopefully somebody is left to laugh then.
