Well I'll just bet that the official policy leaves it to the discretion of the field agent. Wanna bet? Within that discretion I'll bet there's the choice of a phone call. But not being in federal law enforcement I haven't a clue as to what the official policy is. I'll bet even most criminal lawyers don't know.

You might note that we both offered roughly the same alternatives none of which the BATF chose. Instead, they chose a path that ultimately led to the incineration of innocents.

Now I may not know what the official policy is. But I'll just bet it doesn't involve infant barbecue.
