Good brain/mind book
Just finished, My Stroke of Insight by Jill Bolte Taylor. It's an account of a stroke and her recovery. She was a brain anatomist, who, as a result of a congenital malformation, bleed into the left side of her brain, losing a lot of the functions created by the left brain. It is a fascinating account of what she experienced, first realizing it was a stroke, losing much of her 'rational' mind, living with her right side dominant, and then slowly recovering over an 8 yr period, the previous functions of her left brain. It could be understood as an adult going through all the developmental stages we went through between the years of 1-5. Her conclusions are a touch too 'new agey' for my taste, but her analysis of how our brain operates from the viewpoint of a scientist whose brain goes awry is worth reading. You'll think of yourself differently.
