You know what.. they could be really carpenter bees. However, it says that they are up to 1 1/2 inches long. I think the ones here are bigger, but I could be wrong.

I also found this... bees leave behind "yellow sawdust containing waste materials which leaves unsightly stains."

Judging by this description, I think I have carpenter bees but a little bigger than the usual ones.
