The '87 that I've driven was downright sporty--not sluggish at all. I'd suspect the turbo isn't engaging on the one you're looking at (albeit, just a guess). The '87 is easier to work on, but age takes it toll in ways that have nothing to do with mileage or care. If these cars are in as good of condition as claimed, then the prices are quite reasonable. Oh wait, who am I kidding, go with the one your wife likes!
