Forget the cold start valve, it does what its name implies. Its controlled by the fuel pump relay.

Check the idle air bypass valve, it's cylindrical with two hoses and a two pin electrical connector. Make sure it's clean inside. The engine temp sensor also needs to be checked. Its controlled by the idle speed stabilization control unit. It gets a temperature signal from the ECU and that signal is also sent to the FPR.

Get the repair CD's and check the schematics.
