We unfortunately did that at GeekSquad. People often opted to replace their machine with a new one because of a failed HDD and "disposed" of it at our store....we unplugged their HDD, gave it to them and put the machine in the "dump" pile....a machine that was no more than 2 years old in perfect in every other way other than needing a new HDD....such a waste...
