Hey Folks!

About to start on the transmission on my 83 300sd rebuild.

What are the key items to look for on the trans? I have not seen this trans operate yet, got it from a parts car with 77000 on the odometer.

The trans in my 84 300sd with 236000 miles shifts very jerky, especially when cold. I am afraid that it has too many miles on it and need to know I have a stable trans inplace that will not strand me anywhere.

I plan to replace it with the rebuilt 77000 mile trans.

I am not afraid to dig in deep, but I need to know if special tools are required.
