Seriously, it's not that hard and I don't foresee any special tools. One of the hard bits is one of the pistons on one of the bands will take your eye out, but you can rig up something to catch the spring before it pops.

There are copies of the factory manuals out there for the taking ( I think RLeo's website has one). Get all you can . Get the ATSG manual ,too . Sounds like a nice winter project- probably rewarding. I rebuilt an old Ford C-4 and this doesn't look all that different.
