I recently fixed a similar problem by replacing the monovalve solenoid. I still could not "feel" it clicking over for some reason, but it definitely works now.
You may have to remove the bracket that holds the hood switch for the alarm system, which sits over the monovalve. It's just two phillips screws into the firewall.
The job was really easy. Just remember to open your coolant reservoir and squeeze the radiator hose once or twice to burp any pressure out of the system before removing the solenoid. That way, you won't lose any coolant.
