Actually both are poor descriptors of what it is. Supercharged and Turbocharged (Turboed?) are only used in the USA. The correct terms to avoid confusion are "Belt Compressed" and "Turbine Compressed" , hence the name in brit english of "Compressor" and in german "Kompressor".
Dumb reporters would probably be less confused if correct terms would be used instead of long-ago-passe-commercial-names.
I do agree that most journalists look like they don't know the difference.
