It is entirely possible that it is Turbocharged and they are using the term Supercharged interchangeably.

Supercharged Diesel engines have be around at least since the late 1950s. The Military used to use a Diesel Generator set with Supercharged Cummins Engines (similar to the non-supercharged Engines that went in the Big Rig Trucks).

I saw the 1st one when I was 9 years old (1961) as I went with the Father of a friend who was a member of MARS (a HAM radio group). I went with him to a Government warehouse where the MARS members got to pick over the surplus electrical equipment. I the warehouse was one of the Supercharged Gen Sets. The Friends Father pointed out the Supercharger to me and explained how it worked.

Later in Trade School around 1975 they had several of the same Supercharged Engines donated by the Navy to the Trade School for the students to take apart and get running again.

Later when I worked as a Mechanic I rebuilt 2 of those Cummins Super Chargers which operate the same as the Detroit Diesel Blowers (Roots Blower).
