of the Detroit Diesel 53, 61, 92, etc. series diesels were supercharged. Some were turbocharged in addition to the supercharger. I have a pair of Detroir 8V53s in my boat that have the supercharger (only).

They were 2-cycle engines that needed the supercharger to evacuate the exhaust gasses out of the cylinder before the next "pow!" Not bad power, but were considered a NA engine without the turbo.
