Here's a little trick they started back when Nixon was first getting a hard-one for China...
AP used to send, over the wire, a pronounciation guide for all the talking heads to use...this was what the expected "learned newscaster" was suppose to use for saying the Chinese names properly...Dung Shou Ping was one that I remembered...
Sometimes though, you'd literally would see a correction on a pronounciation that had been given to you less than an hour before...quite funny when you were taping your newscasts to run about a half hour later, and you'd see this come across the wire ("Oh chit! Will I be able to re-record before it's called for?"). Happened more than once...I would blow it off since it was usually around 3 or 4 in the morning anyways....
BTW, I went a "lil' Chinese" when I first did Dung's name the first 'cast or two...sounded pretty damn girly...I mid-western'd it up after that...
