I have a 42 inch and we sit back 10 -12 feet depending on what couch we sit on and I feel it is great. I have friends that have 50 inch screens at that distance of viewing and less but I don't like the resolution. I recently hung a 40 inch screen in my bedroom with about an 8 foot viewing distance and it is fine. Take into account what type of service for tv you have dish or cable and that will make your choice easier.
