It is possible that the glowplugs were incorrect for your engine and the heat killed them. May even be a power problem, too much power would, in theory, burn 'em up as well. Or could just have been a bad batch of glow plugs. I had dead glow plugs and didn't know it. I didn't ask why they died, I assume they were just old. Starts up beautifully now.
