There are SEVERAL rules that vary by a factor of at least 2. You can go to www.highdefforum.com if you want "dig in" to this issue. My opinion is you want a screen size 1/3 of the distance you will sit from it. For example if you sit 8 feet away then get a 32". However, many people say 1/2. The main thing to know is that in the store, the sets look MUCH SMALLER than they will in your living room. Unless of course you have a giant living room.
