If the 87 190D 2.5Turbo you are looking at has a good drivetrain, it could always be transplanted into another W201 or W124 to make a 2.5 Turbo out of a car that originally wasn't.

This is what I am thinking; if the price is right just buy it. If you don't end up fixing the car up, pick up a newer 190E with a good body and do a transplant like Jetmugg. These 190D 2.5 turbo cars are really rare and were available only in 1987 in North America. I won't give mine up unless forced to.

I really hope you documented what you did. If something happens to my car I would want to pick up a good body and move the diesel powertrain into it.
