Anyone ever drink a Canadian Whiskey called "Canadian club"? I got cheap today and insted of coughing up $50 for a good handle of vodka bought a $20 handle of what I suspect is bum whiskey. Its not as sweet as VO, but still smooth. Just wondering if I should expect a crazy hangover....I have a beer stein half full of the stuff I'm working on...

Yep, great forum, been here a while!
Hattie - one of my first and worst hangovers came from drinking an entire bottle of CC that was given to me as a gift from a girl at a high school party around Christmas time. She gave me the bottle at the party, and with the mistaken sense of invulnerability that youth gives you, I downed the bottle over the course of the next couple of hours. Things went bad fast after that.
I still have trouble smelling CC today.
It's good whisky though. It's a 'Canadian' rye whisky in the sense that it's a multi-grain blended whisky. Hiram Walker started the distillery, as someone else already posted, near Windsor, ON due to prohibition. It has an interesting history.
Another popular and decent whisky is Crown Royal. Sometimes comes wrapped in a purple velvet bag, which incidentally is the best marble bag a kid can own.
I'm not a big fan of Canadian whisky, though I'll drink it with ginger ale. I'll stick to my scotch, thanks.
