Nah, Its all to do with the way these multi-national car giants are set up--They (Car-Co's) are too powerful in the USA...
In comparison to the USA, cars here in Europe are hideously expensive.
Maybe its a case of, 'Pile 'em high, Sell 'em cheap in the USA.....

Have you seen the news lately my friend? the "Big 3" are barley afloat. Chrysler is projecting it will be out of business by April, with Ford and GM just hanging on by a thread.
Im not sure who currently has the Highest emissions standards. Though i think its currently the US, because we RARELY see any diesels introduced here. Where as in Europe, they are all over. For instance my Mitsubishi Lancer comes in a 2.0L Turbo Diesel which i would do anything for, but it is not an option here in the US. only a 2.4 or a turbo version thats in the Ralli-art or Evo.
Cars in the US are just as Ridiculously expensive as cars in Europe. Its just a matter of Which brand we are talking about. European cars here are grossly overpriced and we are only offered a select few models from these company's. Where as in Europe, those companys offer relitivly decently priced models( MB offers the A-class, B-Class etc), where as im sure American cars in Europe are the same way.
Just a matter of what part of the world you are from and what's a Status Symbol.
