. And none of them are professionals. Alberto Gonzalez was on CNN last night and said the President has the authority to detain anyone, American citizen included, he identifies as a combatant, and the President can do so without presenting evidence for as long as the named conflict continues. And of course the war on terror is never ending since terror is a concept.

We've had 8 years of haphazardly written EOs and dictated edicts already. At least this time the guy has some intelligence. I wish we had had the ability to stop the last President from writing the EOs he wanted. If that were the case, I wouldn't begrudge the same done to this one.

We just changed the cast of characters. If you want to change them that often you'll need to lobby to have the Constitution changed for all Congressional elections every 6 months.

There's the rub. As I said, we're in a "war" on a concept. We've got a war on drugs, those people shouldn't get trials. There's a war on poverty, why aren't poor people picked up and thrown in jail? We could have a War on Dissent, where patriotism is determined by the President. Not a Patriot, you go to prisoner of war camp.
