I've always liked these surprisingly unpopular cars. I haven't heard of any problems. The 4.4l V-8 and the 5spd auto transmission are widely used in the BMW model range, so parts and working knowledge are widely available. I think the electrical system is complex and the rear suspension is bespoke, with passive rear wheel steer. A car of this calibre is always going to be more expensive to fix than an econobox, but it shouldn't go wrong too often. As I say, I haven't heard of any problems, they seem to be beautifully built.
