This is my 1st post. I wanted to thank Whunter for helping me another problem.

I brought a used 1998 E320 wagon with 108,000 miles which had the BAS/ARS yellow light locked on the lower left of the alarm indication panel. I bought the car from a wholesaler non mercedes dealer. I am the 3rd owner of the car. I am not all that familair with the function BAS/ARS.

I purchased an owners manual from Mercedes and read in the back that if the car was not towed properly it might cause the BAS/ASR light to come on. This feature appears to funtions in emergency driving conditions.

Anyone have some information about the BAS/ASR including some history or possible solutions? I know there is an asr switch but nothing happens when I try to turn off the ASR.

Also the BAS & ASR trouble lights come on when the car is started is there any way to bypass those lights & the exceeded maintenance by light.
