It's true that much of our woes have been building for some time, but Bush, and more importantly, the vast army of people who promoted and apologized for his every move made matters worse.

Again, I'm not giving him grief. I'm just saying that if he cannot undo the appointments Bush and Cheney made he isn't much of a President. IOW, that is NOT an excuse to me.
Not everything was an executive order, was it? Congress is also somewhat involved, are they not? What part of that equation has radically changed?
