I don't believe that was the problem. The fan is attached to a bearing that is mounted to the housing found at the attached link. The bearing fails and the fan assembly complete with fan clutch takes out the radiator and other assorted parts. The bearing is very reliable but its condition really should be checked and replaced as needed. Mark
