Ok, here's the update...
I followed the DieselGiant Pictorial and Writeup. Excellent thing to have and follow...Now for the trip meter still would stop at x.9. I kept watching an could not see what was going on. All the big and side gears were turning, butwiththe Speedo out of the cluster, I could here it ratcheting when I spun the brass gear by hand. When I turned the speedo upside down, it worked fine. I pressed in on the three return springs the press on the trip meter wheels, and it would work fine. I then saw what was ratcheting...then entire trip meter assembly. I almost made a secondary spring assembly that would give more pressure to keep the gears meshed, but I knew something was not right...out comes the speedo Jimmy brought me...wow it's reset arm was much harder to press than the one I was working on. A closer look revealed there is a spring that goes between the trip reset arm and the fram of the speedo assembly. I made a spring work from a defunct ball point pen, and not the trip meter does not skip a beat.
