For me, the salient moral objection to embryo harvesting is the commodification of human beings. It is related to the (to me, immoral) practice of patenting genes and whole organisms.

Slavery makes a commodity of human beings and we all agree that slavery is immoral. I have yet to see anybody on the pro-abortion side advance a comprehensive argument concerning the demarkation between that which may be aborted and that which is murder if terminated.

In my opinion, the distinction is arbitrary. This does not mean that I believe any taking of human life is immoral. To me, taking human life is most effectively argued from a utilitarian point of view considered on each instance (I am not satisfied that there is a none-size fits-all solution).

Since I don't believe that there is a generalizable "good", I do not believe that governments should be involved in the decision.
