Hey everyone, well i've finally been driving the 220D on the road for a few days now. I think all the problems i'm going to have for awile have finally surfaced. If I could PLEASE get your opinions and information with each problem and if it's easy enough for a DIY or if I should take it in. Here it all is:
1.) I have a MASSIVE oil leak. As far as I can see the oil is dripping off the oil pan, but I can't find out where it's coming from, Oil is also leaking from the oil filler cap, bad gasket i'm guessing. It leaked so much that a week after my repair to get it running, it literally leaked out all its oil. My driveway is starting to look like a dalmation and I don't want to have to run to autozone for oil every other week lol
2.) I have the gorilla knob starter and pulling it to start works just fine, but if I push it in to stop the engine nothing happens, the mechanic told us the part had just gone bad, we have the new part, just need to put it on. The only way to turn the car off at the moment is to put it in gear and stall it.
3.) There is a hose starting at the brake reservoir going down to what I think is the clutch. The part of the hose connecting to the reservoir is all chewed up and I had to clamp it on using those screw clamps. It's holding but still leaking brake fluid. My clutch pedal was sticking to the floor when I first started driving around, but after adding that screw clamp. It hasn't done it since..... Could these be the reason?
4.) Glow plugs arn't working. Now i've replaced the glow plugs on my 240D but this looks different. It's the christmas light setup and should I buy the looped style GP's or the newer type? I REALLY want them changed because I know none of them are working, and when the engine is cold, it's such a dog to start
5.) When I brake, it rides to the left, but I imagine it's because we're running the spare tire (which is skinny) on the front left, when the other three are normal fat tires, could this be my problem?
6.) Also upon take off from first gear there is a thudding noise like the back is so low the tires are rubbing, but i'm 90% sure that's not the case. I'm thinking it might be the flex disc needing replacement but that's just a guess. Also it's making a noise while driving when there is weight in the back. Sounds like the muffler is rubbing, like the dinging/clacking type sound, but it sounds too familiar and I'm thinking the rear axles are on their way out but i'm assuming, heard the same noises with my 240D and it ended up needing new rear axles. The muffler is missing one rubber band twords the back of it. I'm hoping that's the culprit.
Should I just take the car in for these? Or can I do some of these on my own? Once these are fixed, I won't have to worry about anything but registration, insurance and diesel fill ups lol. Thanks everyone I really appreciate it!
