You may not have noticed but about six months ago all the ice cream makers, it seemed to be in concert, reduced their half-gallon cartons to 1.75 quarts. There was a warning in the news that same was about to happen about a month in advance.

Take a look at the half-gallon cartons regardless of maker. They are no longer 2 quarts.
