I know plenty of people who own gentle pit bulls who aren't specialized animal handlers ... the dogs were never aggressive a day in their lives. Most dogs that are extremely aggressive are that way because they've been treated like crap. Not necessarily trained to be violent, but ignored, yelled at, hit and/or just generally not handled and loved. I'm not saying this is always the case ... but it's very often the case. Heck, the same could be said of violent people.

Yes, pit bulls are heavy, powerful animals that are capable of being extremely dangerous and deadly. So are horses ... times 10. A horse, no matter how nice and sweet, can kill you any day of the week, even by complete accident. Yet culturally horses are considered majestic and cherishable while pit bulls are dangerous killing machines? I'm not a huge pit fan and personally I would not choose to own one (I prefer, as my cousin put it "little gay dogs") ... but it's absurd to label them as a "problem" breed and even worse to ban them.
