A good tool for finding lost nuts and washers in the leaves/grass is a speaker magnet. [ or any large magnet]..just cover scan the suspect ground area with the magnet end of a small speaker and you will usually find the part..along with a bunch of other rusted particles, bits and pieces ...........
I have a good sized one fastened to the end of a broomstick...works wonders.
