Since the ignition rotor attaches to the front of the cam, if the cam is right the ignition rotor should be close, or close enough. Wanna recheck cam timing? Does it seem to have compression, you might want to test that. I suppose the rotor bracket migh be misinstalled, although on second thought you probably couldn't get the dist cap on right if you messed that up.
